THE MAD MOOSE MISSION

The Mad Moose Mission is to be a service and demo focused shop. Mad Moose believes in the "right to repair" and the ability to "try before you buy". Therefore our goal is to make servicing your bike easier and more convenient for you by bringing the bike shop to you, when it's convenient for you, to keep you riding and enjoying your bike. We also understand that it's terrifying to make a big bike purchase before being able to truly ride that bike. We will do our best to have the bikes we sell available for demo to enhance the shopping experience so you can make the purchase you actually want instead of "what's in stock". Last, Mad Moose Bikes only sells products we believe in and would ride ourselves so you can ride with confidence knowing that your purchase meets the Mad Moose standard.

Mad Moose Story

The Mad Moose Bikes story began during the summer of 2023 while on vacation visiting family. There just happened to be an all wheel drive Ford Transit van for sale right down the road from where we were staying. We took it for a test drive then decided to go all in! I spent the next week driving the van up to Alaska, the whole time thinking about bike shop names, how to build the van out to be a bike shop and how to run a mobile bike shop.  The rest is Mad Moose History!

WILL ROSS

I’m Will Ross, the owner and operator of Mad Moose Bikes. I am a former professional triathlete, endurance cyclist, race director, and career bike mechanic based in Anchorage, Alaska. As an athlete, I specialized in off road (XTERRA) triathlon and landed on podiums at many of the XTERRA Pan American Pro series races. I took pride in my athletic versatility by racing events like The Alaskaman Extreme Triathlon and winter ultras such as the Arrowhead 135 and the Susitna 100. To support my racing, I worked at Chain Reaction Cycles and the Trek Store of Anchorage where I was the service manager for Chain Reaction and product manager for 9:ZERO:7 Bikes. I also spent over 10 years as a local race director and was on the board of directors for the Arctic Bike Club where my main role was course director for the ArcticCross series. My years as a mechanic, product manager, race director, and Alaska’s only professional triathlete have helped me earn a reputation as an approachable and enthusiastic local expert on anything and everything related to bikes.

SPOT THE SHOP DOG

In his youth, Spot was an absolute trail shredder who loved leaning into berms and scrubbing the table tops. Today, he's a guardian of the tools and inventory and takes his job very seriously.
